Don’t make candles in tea cups ☕️

Candle glass is designed to withstand the heat of the flame so always use glasses specifically made for candle making. The shape is important too if you want an even burn all the way down. Cylindrical works best with straight edges because your wick has been designed for the wider part of the glass meaning it would burn too hot awards the bottom if it tapers.

Using more fragrance doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll get a stronger scent throw, you have to get the amount just right , too little and the scent throw will be weak, too much and the perfume will clog the wick meaning there is also no throw.

Candle making is more difficult than some people realise, probably because the process of making them is really simple. Jar, wick, pour wax and leave to set. ( if only) Mastering how to make a good candle, with an even burn, steady flame, good scent throw as well as all the rules and regulations is a whole different ball game. There are so many variables and even when you have nailed one formula you’re usually back to square one on the next.

I started this business just three years ago as a hobby or ‘just for fun’ after doing a candle kit with my girls. After doing the simple step by step guide I was deluded in to thinking it would be easy. How wrong was I! But by then I was hooked and made it my mission to make the best candle possible. I’ve always had an obsession with fragrance and home scents, so this was the perfect path , even though at the time I never dreamed it would turn in to a successful business.

I started from a small spare bedroom for the first couple of years and we’re now in a large functional workspace, that is a beautifully renovated barn in the Yorkshire countryside, were employing our first members of staff and our business is going from strength to strength.
